The Landmark of Design Excellence – iF DESIGN AWARD 2024 Metaverse Experience
A real-time, multiplayer metaverse built to honor global design excellence and connect the creative community through immersive storytelling.
In collaboration with the iF DESIGN AWARD, we developed “The Landmark of Design Excellence” – the first-ever virtual award exhibition created entirely in Unreal Engine 5, built as a responsive, browser-based Pixel Streaming experience. This dynamic world showcases over 2,500 award-winning projects, with the 75 Gold Award winners prominently staged around the iconic iF Design Sculpture at the heart of a massive digital quarry.
As part of the development team, I worked on the implementation of multiplayer systems, seamless movement transitions (including hoverboard mechanics), and UI functionality for both desktop and mobile users. The platform enables users to explore five design disciplines across six distinct environments, with teleportation and fast-travel interfaces that make navigating this vast digital exhibition intuitive and engaging.
Visitors can customize avatars, explore cinematic narratives, and interact with a wide array of award-winning case studies presented as floating red and gold cubes. The experience also serves as a virtual venue for future design conferences and panel talks, with real-time video integration and social interaction features like live chat.
